Where it all began

Since 1905, we’ve been working hard to ensure families across South Africa have quality seafood products they can trust.

From our humble beginnings in Saldanha Bay more than a century ago to becoming a heavy-weight in the canned food industry, our family and community values have always remained at the core of how we do business.

Today, our cannery provides much needed employment to more than 400 workers from the area surrounding St Helena Bay, where our operation is now located. From here the Saldanha brand continues to provide the quality products that have been bringing families together for more than 110 years.

The Saldanha difference

Single source quality

Single source quality

At Saldanha, we are committed to delivering only the highest quality seafood, sourced locally, and from trusted suppliers across the globe. Every product bearing the Saldanha name is meticulously selected and processed to uphold our promise of excellence. We proudly employ local men and women who share our deep respect for the ocean and our region, and their dedication and expertise are vital in maintaining the highest quality standards possible.

High food-safety standards

High food-safety standards

Major upgrades to our cannery between 2005 and 2013 paved the way for our factory to become the first food processing factory in South Africa to achieve HACCP accreditation and ISO 22000 certification. Our products also adhere to strict NRCS standards and are independently evaluated per batch before being released.
